Simon’s help was significant to Jesus even though it was just a short episode in his life. Similarly the sharing of expertise and financial aid from the developed world, makes a huge difference in many areas. An action that is a drop in the ocean to us could make an ocean of difference in the lives of many. The creation of wells, the development of water purification and filtration systems all help to ease the burdenLord, help me not to be indifferent to the plight of others. Because I cannot see them face to face, I sometimes shut out the silent pleas for help that are conveyed in images and television clips. May I become like Simon for them in their hour of need. May I take on the role of servant in imitation of Jesus who came ‘to serve and not to be served’
